About Us
Elite Scholars Academy is a Cambridge Assessment International and Early College Magnet School in the Clayton County Public School District for grades 6-12. The school was established in 2009 as a Public Charter School, with a strong academic focus. In July 2016, ESA transitioned from a Charter School to a Magnet School. Elite Scholars Academy is currently an Early College Magnet School. In October 2017, Elite Scholars Academy moved into its new facility on Fielder Road in Jonesboro. The new facility, built at a cost of $22.2 million, features 48 instructional units (classrooms, labs, etc.) and space for 700 students. The school also features a digital animation lab, as well as athletic facilities, including a gymnasium, tennis court, soccer field, and track.
Our Early College Magnet Program offers all honors and Advanced Placement courses. These accelerated course offerings prepare middle school students for their required AP courses in high school, and their Dual Enrollment coursework. Students begin earning high school credits in middle school. The Magnet Program enables students to experience rigorous high school and college coursework that leads to improved outcomes. In high school, students take AP and Honors courses at the traditional school setting, and can also be enrolled in college courses simultaneously. Students at Elite Scholars Academy are strongly encouraged to participate in Dual Enrollment. Students may be able to graduate early and/or earn an Associate's Degree or Certificate.
Elite Scholars Academy is a Cambridge Assessment International Education school and the only 6th-12th Cambridge International School in Georgia! The Cambridge Lower Secondary program provides students with the opportunity to pursue a rigorous program of study based on an internationally standardized curriculum. The Upper Secondary Cambridge Advanced International Certificate (AICE) Diploma Program is an innovative and accelerated method of academic study offered solely through the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).
Our Fine Arts program includes courses in Drawing and Painting, Sculpture and Ceramics, as well as Band, Orchestra, and Chorus.
The expectation is that students earn 27 Carnegie Units to satisfy graduation requirements. Seventh grade students can earn one high school credit (Foreign Language). Eighth grade students have the potential to earn three high school credits (Foreign Language, Algebra I, and Physical Science) before entering high school. All students are expected to earn four credits of a foreign language, including a mandatory requirement of Latin. Our current Foreign Language offerings include Spanish, French, Latin, and Mandarin Chinese.
Academic and behavior guidelines must be adhered to for students to remain eligible and continue in the Magnet Program. Elite Scholars Academy holds its students, parents, faculty, and staff to high standards. We believe in a partnership of home and school working together to ensure student success. Parents are encouraged to complete twenty hours of volunteer service each school year.
Elite Scholars Academy provides several opportunities for student athletes to excel outside the classroom. Current sports offered at Elite Scholars Academy include basketball, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball, soccer, golf, and cheerleading. ESA also has a variety of clubs and organizations for students to participate in. Grade levels plan for student field trips each year, which include at least one college visit and one community service opportunity.
