Access
The Media Center is open during school hours. Students are not permitted to be in the Media Center during homeroom and morning announcements. Students need a media center pass, signed by their classroom period teacher, to visit the media center during class periods. Students must sign in and sign out at the circulation desk, and return to class before transitions and dismissal.  Many of our resources are always accessible online, including Destiny Discover, digital resources, and e-books. Students are encouraged to join the Media Center Canvas page for access to more information and resources. See the Media Specialist if you need an invite to join. Please be advised, Media Center hours may vary due to testing, meetings, and other circumstances. 


Book Checkout
Students may checkout two physical books at a time. Students can checkout one e-book at a time. Books are checked out for two weeks. Students may renew a book one time and can place one book on hold.  Students should visit Destiny Discover through the CCPS portal to view the books available in the collection. Books should be returned to the book drop in the media center.

Holds

For physical books, please place the book on hold in Destiny Discover that you would like to checkout. The media staff will pull the book and notify you via email when the hold is ready. Please allow at least one day for the hold to be pulled before coming to pick it up. Students can pick up holds from the media center. Holds not picked up within two days will be re-shelved. E-books are checked out digitally online and holds for e-books can be placed online. 


Lost or Damaged Books
If a book is lost or damaged, students will be fined for the replacement cost of the item. Overdue books must be returned and fees must be paid for any lost or damaged books before the student can checkout more items. Parents will be contacted for students who have severely overdue books.

Technology 
Students are expected to bring their fully charged Chromebook to school every day. If you are experiencing issues with your chromebook, troubleshooting steps should be attempted (close applications, logout, restart, etc.) If the issue is not resolved with troubleshooting, notify a teacher who can submit a tech ticket for you. If your device or accessories are damaged, lost, or stolen, replacement accessories will be available for purchase. Notify a teacher and a tech ticket will be submitted on your behalf. If you forget your chromebook or did not charge your chromebook, you must call your parent and notify them, and ask for your device and charger to be brought to school.

School and County technology devices are to be used for school related assignments, assessments, research, etc. This includes chromebooks, laptops, and desktops. Please ensure that your technology use reflects this. Devices should not be used for video games, non-educational videos, accessing or searching for inappropriate content or sites, or any other recreational type of activities. Failure to cooperate will result in limited or no use of school technology devices and possible disciplinary action. Chromebooks should be safely secured when away from school, and turned off and safely secured over breaks. 


There are student computers and a printer available for use in the media center. Students may print only school related materials as needed, and within reason. Color printing is not available. Printing is not permitted during class change/transitions. Computers are only for school work and research.

Expectations
No food or drinks in the media center. Clean up after yourself by pushing in chairs, putting materials back, collecting all your personal items, and throwing trash away. Be respectful of others and remember that the media center is a quiet and academic setting. Books and other library items should be treated with care. Remember that you are borrowing these items, and the expectation is that you return them in good, working condition.
