2020-2021 Clubs

STEM Club: The STEM club is designed for students in grades 6-12 who are interested in science, technology, engineering, or math. Visit https://www.7thgradescienceworld.com/ for more information or contact Mrs. Hutchins-Trapp at reshawndra.hutchins@clayton.k12.ga.us.

2019-2020 Clubs

Name of Club: Step Team
Description: Step team is a percussive dance team with African origins. In this type of dance, steppers use their entire bodies as an instrument to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a mixture of footsteps, spoken word, and hand claps. Any middle school or high school scholar, who is passing all of their classes is eligible to try out for the step team in September of each school year.

When club meets: Mon,Tues, and Thurs 3:30 -5:00 pm

Name of Club: MOCK TRIAL
Description of club: Grades 9-12 are eligible. The Georgia Mock Trial Competition helps students gain an understanding of the legal system by providing opportunities for school teams to participate in academic competitions where players assume attorney and witness roles in a court case.

When club meets: August -February,  Monday- Wednesday and Sundays at the Clayton County Courthouse

Name of Club: Beta Club
Description: The National Beta Club is an organization for 4th through 12th-grade students in the United States. Its purpose is "to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, leadership, and service among elementary and secondary school students." Students with a grade point average of 3.5 (a general rule of thumb is that it is approximately half A’s and half B’s in one and two-term courses), who also exemplify strong character, and have maintained role model behavior throughout the last school year (no administrative referrals or periods in in-school or out-of-school suspension) are eligible to apply for membership in the Elite Scholars Academy Beta Club.

When club meets: Semi-monthly on Wednesdays from 3:15 until 4:15 pm.

Name of Club: Science Olympiad Team
Description: Science Olympiad is a team competition in which students compete in 23 events pertaining to various scientific disciplines, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Students in grades 6-8 are eligible to join the team. Students who interested in science, technology, and math are definitely welcome to join our club.

When club meets: Every other Tuesdays from 3:15 to-4:15pm. The meetings alternate with the Coding Club.

Name of Club: Coding Club
Description: The Coding Club aims to provide opportunities for middle school students to develop coding skills. Students who interested in science, technology, and math are definitely welcome to join our club.

When club meets every other Tuesdays from 3:15 to-4:15pm. The meetings alternate with the Science Olympiad Team.

Name of club: Mu Alpha Theta
Description: Mu Alpha Theta is the United States Mathematics Honor Society for high school and two-year college students. My club helps students participate in different clubs, math competitions, and also offers scholarships and awards. To be part of this group, students should have GPA 3.0, should be enthusiastic in participating in math competitions, and community service.

When club meets: Once a month, usually last week of every month

Name of Club: Math Club
Description: Any student in 9-12th grade with good grades in Math and who has an interest in Math is eligible.

When club meets: 1st and 3rd Monday of the month
